Community Involvement

A lifetime resident of Louisville, Michael Bush attended St. Edward Grade School in Jeffersontown, St. Xavier High School, and Bellarmine University.   He stays involved with each school through various sports and alumni association events.

Michael is currently on two committees at St. X:  XBPA and PXinferus40.  XBPA, or the St. X Business and Professional Association, serves as a catalyst for connecting its alumni through networking, mentoring relationships, and volunteering opportunities, and Michael is proud to serve as Secretary on the founding committee.  PXinferus40 is the name of the campaign known as Project X that is targeting the under-40 alumni to raise money for the new Student Activities Center.  In honor of Michael's parents and grandparents, he has pledged a contribution to benefit the campaign and serves on the committee as his class representative. In addition to the two committees, Michael is honored to serve on St. X's Alumni Board of Directors after election in 2009.  Please contact him if you would like more information on XBPA and PXinferus40, or visit www.saintx.com.

Michael is also an active participant with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  This year he will be on the executive committee for the 2009 Annual Light the Night Walk.  Light the Night is a fundraising event that happens each year to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  It is a night filled with inspiration and illumination, as each participant carries an illuminated balloon as they walk.  Funds raised by participants will go towards a range of different programs from life saving blood cancer research, to financial assistance for patients in need.  The event in Louisville will take place Saturday, October 3rd at Waterfront Park.  For more information regarding the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Annual Light the Night Walk, please contact Michael, or visit www.lls.org and www.lightthenight.org .

Light the Night Walk 2009

As Co-Chair of the Executive Committee for the Light the Night Walk, Michael raised over $1300.  The Walk was a huge success, drawing almost 5000 people and raising over $350,000.
